* NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
* This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

* Excepted Civil Service Technicians are required to maintain a MOS/AFSCand military grade that is determined by the NGB to be compatible with theassigned technician position
* In order to achieve compatibility prior to effective date of personnel action, selectee must be eligible for military assignment in one of the following AFSC 2A3XX, 2A5X1, 2A5X2, 2A5X4, 2A6XX, 2A8X1, 2A8X2C, 2A8X1C, 2A8X1E, 2A8X2E.
* Note: In order to qualify for above mentioned AFSC(s) you must complywith mandatory entry requirements contained in Air Force Manual AFMAN36-2108, Enlisted Classification or AFMAN 36-2105, Officer Classification,as applicable.
* Selectee who are required to retrain into different military skill sets to meet compatibility requirements must successfully complete within six (6) months of their appointments in order to remain assigned to their position.
* If selected for this position who is not qualified in one of the mentioned AFSC, MUST submit to HRO, before date of appointment, the correct military paperwork/application to attend the technical training school required to be AFSC Qualified
* If selectee fails to process the school application and does not successfully graduate from the school, he/she will be terminated from the technician program for failure to meet the compatibility standards and receive a 30 days notice of separation.

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION:**
This position require military membership in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard (PRANG). If you are not a military member of the PRANG (i.e. member of the PR Army NG, civilian, active duty Airman, prior service, Airman member from another state , reservist, IRR, State Guard, etc.), you must contact the ANG Recruiting and Retention Superintendent (RRS) Office at 787-289-1400 Ext 1713 or 787-529-2094 o request the PRANG Military Basic Requirements (MBR) Certification. Instructions to request such certification are available at http://www.pr.ngb.army.mil/hro/ If the MBR certification is not submitted, your application will not be screened.
**AREA OF CONSIDERATION:**
**Area 1** = All permanent Enlisted employees (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Air National Guard.
**Area 2** = All indefinite Enlisted employees (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Air National Guard.
**Area 5** = Enlisted members of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard.
**Area 6**= Applicants who meet all requirements to become member of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard. (If the MBR certification is not submitted, your application will not be screened)
First round consideration will be given to Area 1 Candidates. **(All other Areas will be screened only in the event that there are no qualified or recommended Candidates)**
To prevent a grade inversion, military rank allowed for this position will be determined at the final evaluation of the vacancy announcement considering the military rank of the supervisor.
**Acceptance of any military technician position may cause the termination of entitlements and eligibility for all military bonuses and student loan repayments. For further information you must contact the appropriate military Education Office.**
**INDEFINITE:**This position is advertised against a valid man-year of an employee currently on an Active Duty tour. If the employee does not exercise restoration rights, personnel action may become permanent without further competition, upon recommendation of immediate supervisor, or may be terminated at any time by management decision.
An applicant selected for an indefinite appointment will occupy a full-time position without a specific time limitation. A technician in this type of appointment does not work towards permanent tenure and can be terminated at any time with a 30-day notice. The permanent status of a current permanent employee will not change in the event of a selection for a position that is being announced as indefinite. If a current permanent employee is selected, the position will be filled as a Temporary Promotion or a Change to Lower Grade. Employee serving under a temporary promotion may not retain a grade or rate of basic pay held during the temporary promotion. ***DUTIES:***
As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (D525P01), WU-8852-12, you will act as the crew chief with responsibility for directing the total maintenance effort on individually assigned aircraft.
***PHYSICAL DEMANDS:***
Work assignments require moderate to strenuous effort. The mechanic isrequired to climb, stoop, crawl, and stand for significant time periods. He/she isregularly required to lift parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds,occasionally lifting and carrying items to 50 pounds, with assistance as required.
***WORK ENVIRONMENT:***
Work is performed in hanger areas, and on parking ramps, both inside and outside of the aircraft. Work areas are typically noisy. Work is carried out in weather extremes involving cold, wind, rain, snow, and heat. Work is often carried out in confined spaces and awkward positions. Dirt, dust, grease, and aircraft fluids are a common problem. Hazardous gasses and fluids such as Hydrozine, jet fuel, solvents, Halon, and the like are prevalent. Scaffolds,ladders, and aircraft surfaces can become slick and dangerous, resulting in cuts,bruises, falls, and strains. Incumbents are subject to injury from numerous moving parts such as flight control surfaces, loosened components, etc. Workers are exposed to hot exhaust blast and intake suction. Ramps are active and noisy, with vehicles, aircraft and support equipment moving constantly.
**QUALIFICATIONS:**

**GENERAL EXPERIENCE**: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
**SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:**Applicant **must possess more than EIGHTEEN (18) months**of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as expediting aircraft operations; accomplishing operational tests of aircraft systems and components; providing technical guidance and assistance; performing in-process and final inspection of aircrafts; understanding peculiarities of the specifically assigned aircraft; plannings, developing and conducting training; making decisions on a wide range of matters that may involve changes; evaluating and certifying effectiveness of training; resolving problems and devise solutions when aircrafts are not at home station; complying with safety regulations.
### Education
Successfully completion of a full 4 year course in an accredited college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted at the rate of one academic year of study (30 semester's hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 12 months of specialized experience. Courses must be directly related to the work of the position. Completion of courses such as the Officer Advanced Course, Squadron Officer School, Command and Staff College, Air and Army War College, National Security Management Course and others of comparable level will be credited at the rate of 1 month of education for two months of specialized experience. **Copy of student transcripts or training certificates must be included in order to receive credit for education. Unofficial transcripts from internet or with alterations will not be considered.** To receive credit for education the information must be included in the education section of the Resume.
